Our Services

The Willamette Chapter of the American Red Cross helps individuals and families recover from, prepare for, and prevent disasters. We also provide other critical community services that are detailed below. Last year the Chapter assisted over 280 individuals affected by disasters and trained more than 12,000 individuals in CPR and first aid. We are an independent, nonprofit organization that depends upon the generosity of our local community for our financial support. We do not receive funds from the American National Red Cross. All funds donated to your local Willamette Chapter remain here to support the following local programs:

Disaster Services

Each year, the American Red Cross responds immediately to more than 67,000 disasters, including house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters. We are also committed to educating our community about preparing for disasters, and offer many resources to help people prepare for and prevent disasters.

Biomedical Services

We support the Pacific Northwest Regional Blood Services (PNRBS) by providing volunteers to recruit blood donors and work at blood drives. PNRBS provides blood to more than 80 hospitals in our region.

Military Members and Families

We call this Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES). We assist military families in crisis by serving as the liaison between families and their military family member. Simply put, we deliver messages! We also help military families stateside who are in crisis by facilitating cash advancements or other assistance.

Health & Safety Services

Health and Safety education and training, including first aid/CPR/AED, bloodborne pathogens, swimming and lifegarding, and HIV/Aids education awareness, as well as all the courses listed under Youth Services.

Youth Services

Our AmeriCorps Member teaches a variety of youth classes in area schools for free, including First Aid for Children Today (FACT), Basic Aid Training (BAT), When I’m In Charge (WIIC), and Babysitting. We also have a Youth Council made up of students from area high schools, which is led by our AmeriCorps members.
