Prerequisite(s): None. *This course is a prerequisite for ALL other Disaster Services courses.
Aviation Presentation Workshop CGDIS301: This program will discuss the connection between the American Red Cross and the National Transportation Safety Board’s Transportation Disaster Assistance Team, the lead federal agency to work with victims and their families. The program will review what is mandated for the Red Cross and also what areas the Red Cross may be called to assist with. The program will also discuss how some of this model could be used in other types of transportation accidents and mass casualty and fatality incidents in your communities. Collaborating to ensure Effective Service Delivery 30894: This course will prepare you to establish collaborative relationships that contribute to coordinated disaster response and help to ensure effective service delivery. This course will also prepare participants to begin conducting liaison activities in a chapter and establish a foundation upon which they can build toward a career as a liaison in the Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR) system. Fundamentals of Chapter Disaster Operations Management (FCDOM) 308130: The purpose of this course is to prepare Red Cross employees and leadership volunteers to manage a small disaster relief operation, which is chapter managed and accounted, and at least partially funded by the Disaster Relief Fund. Health Services Response Workshop DSCLS205W: The purpose of this training is to provide basic information about the activities of the Disaster Health Services (DHS) function of the American Red Cross. Participants will learn more about what various knowledge, skills, and abilities are needed by DHS staff as well as how they can get involved in their local chapter. International Humanitarian Law (half day) 6310: Participants in this course will learn about the guiding principles and international humanitarian law (IHL) framework for conduct in warfare as set forth by the Geneva Conventions of 1949. International humanitarian law is the branch of international law that encompasses both humanitarian principles and international treaties that seek to save lives and alleviate suffering of both combatants and noncombatants during armed conflicts.
